Our Kids & Khakis program is a behind-the-scenes resource for Midland's teachers, counselors, and caseworkers who are see kids in need throughout the school year.
Last year, this program served 462 local kids and this year is already on track to help even more. Click here for more info.
The record demand has our Kids & Khakis shelves emptying quickly. Help by shopping our WalMart Registry or our Amazon Wish List, by hosting a drive or by making a financial donation.
Below are some Kids & Khakis requests we have received recently, all from Midland ISD counselors:
"Student was placed with grandma due to domestic violence. Grandma is in need of help with bills, food, and clothing."
"Mother is a single mother that has really worked hard to get on her feet and provide for her children. Mother needs support from the community and this is going to be a great boost for her and her family."
"Family is currently at [a shelter]. They are working hard to stay together and get the kids going with school."
Board member Sarah Collins, on why she came to be a part of 3:11 –
"I was asked to volunteer with a friend for 3:11’s prom program. There was one day where dozens of girls would come and they would pick a dress and accessories, do hair and makeup, and a little bit of self-love and reflection. These girls were so sweet and grateful just to be there. They all had a different story, but something in common at the same time. Seeing the smiles on their faces when they found the perfect look and knowing that I had a hand in making them feel special was what really got me hooked on working with 3:11."
